Miscellaneous
Since we are all cheap and would rather spend money on eating or drinking, we spent a lot of time just walking around the city looking at things. There are a lot of narrow, winding passages in the old part of town, and it all looks very medieval. Lots of sculptures of old dead kings scattered around town. We went shopping, but obviously not crazy expensive local designers. Woo new jeans and a jacket for 50 euro!
We had a lot of down time between our daily activities and dinner, which wasn’t until 10 or later. So we became highly skilled at sitting in the hostel’s TV room and finding American crime shows to keep ourselves entertained. We love Mentes Criminales and Sexo en Nueva York. The man in the convenience store across from the hostel became our new best friend, since we went in there like 5 times a day for snacks. Fruit lady down the street sold avocados for .99! So gooood.
The hostel was really, really nice! They cleaned EVERY DAY and made our beds. Everything was so clean and comfortable! We had a kitchen, a computer room, and a tv room to use whenever we wanted. The only shitty part was sharing a ten bed room with other people, who tended to be VERY LOUD when the rest of us were trying to sleep. Grrrrr. So if any of you are looking for a cheap hostel in central Barcelona, go check out Mediterranean Youth Hostel!
