We left Ibiza on a flight with a total of 18 other passengers. It was the most hilarious flight I’ve ever been on! It was not even economically beneficial for easyjet to run that flight, but they did anyway. Also the Ibiza airport is ridiculous, mostly because of the whack job security. For one, Patrick never had to present his passport at any point during our time at the airport; not check-in, not security, not boarding. We didn’t have to take off our shoes at security, or take out our liquids, etc. But obviously Patrick had to take off his belt because HE CLEARLY IS A TERRORIST. The security lady also yelled at him to open his laptop after it went through the x-ray because, who knows, he probably had explosive materials in there. Anywho, we got to Milan Malpensa airport at around 6:30 pm, and had to figure out the train system to our hostel. For one thing, the train from the airport to the train station in Milan cost 11 euros! Then we had to buy tickets from the train station to another train station and figure out which lines take us to which stops, etc. So we get off the train at our stop and then we realize we have no idea where to go to get to our hostel. Weee! We walked towards the park that the hostel’s website told us to go to and we were greeted with mountains of garbage flooding the streets. It smelled like a fish market. Apparently we are next to a psychiatric hospital. We wandered through the central part of Milan to find some dinner and stumbled into a little restaurant fully staffed by….Asians. haha smack dab in the middle of Italy and we find the only Italian place owned by a Chinese family. I had a small salad and pepperoni pizza. Patrick had spaghetti carbonara and some meat dish with green peppercorns. We had lots of red wine and it was all so cheap (at least compared to Paris)! We got gelato afterwards and sat in a little plaza by the central train station. Nomnomnomnom. AC Milan won some tournament tonight so the city went wild. People were honking horns and leaning out windows waving their red and black flags and shouting things in Italian. It was a wonderful welcome to Italy.
